I am communist too but one has to understand the underlying intricacies of a running a government as well, especially a communist state government, while the country remains explicitly anti-communist. In the face of increasing economic development and industrialization, sabotage from within the party for vested interest is apparent. Nandigram is such a case where sabotage from the party itself and disruption by the opposition has created and snowballed into mayhem. Loosing faith in the party is not desirable and whatever Buddha Deb Bhattacharya is doing is not only best for the party but also for the state. Intellectuals supporting him and the party are not to blame as a closer understanding of the situation will reveal the real truth and you will see that Communist party in West Bengal and Buddha Deb Bhattacharya are not deviating from the communist ideology rather they are doing an inimitable job in a third world communist state.
And lastly for the list— if you boycott all of them...who’s left!:)

I don't think that Buddhadev Bhattacharya has done any wrong. If he does not acquire any land, how the roads, bridges, industries will be built up ? In air ?

What exactly you mean by "Boycott these intellectuals"? Are you suggesting that we shouldn't watch "their" movies, or listen to "their" songs or read "their" books? I am asking this as hardly any of us interact with them in our daily lives... yet "their" presence is felt in various ways... just as I said, through books, movies and songs. So shall we go on without reading works of some of the greatest writers of our time, without watching worthwhile movies or listening to good songs?

The Indian hospitality industry has seen a major hike in the recent times owing to the astounding industrial growth of the country. The growth in the IT sector has also hugely led to the revolving fortunes of the metros and major cities of the country. Offshore business flowing in and the eagerness of the MNCs to come up in India has led to the obvious growth of the hospitality sector also. Most of the big names in the hospitality industry from India and abroad have their properties in the important commercial hubs of the country. However, surprisingly, the hospitality industry is not that vigorously promoted in one of the most important metros of the country, Kolkata. In the past decade Kolkata has also seen major industrial growth. But unfortunately, the West Bengal state Government hasn’t shown much inclination towards the development of the hospitality industry of the state in general and the hotels in Kolkata in particular. Inspite of the repeated appeals from the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Eastern India, the state government hasn’t come up with steps that would boost the growth of the hospitality industry. Most of the suggestions and appeals made by the Association have gone unheeded. On the contrary, the state government increased the luxury tax payable by the air conditioned budget hotels in Kolkata and the ones in the rest of the state by a whopping 650%. Change in excise duties, reduction in the bar license renewal fee etc have also not been worked upon. In one word, the government seems to be underestimating the need to strengthen and boost the hospitality industry in the wake of unprecedented industrial growth. With proper etching out of the taxes and fees payable by the hotels of the state, the state government can make the business hotels in Kolkata and other renowned hotels of the state bring in huge profits for the state.
i am so confused!!! if so many great people need to be boycotted, who are we left with? in bengali, it says, "don't spread the rumor, don't listen to the rumor". west bengal opposition knows nothing but spreading the rumor. unfortunately, we, bengalis, are extremely vulnerable to nurturing the gossip, and here, opposition is very successful in getting political benefit. the opposition leader, who is a born actress, did no good so far for bengal and its people. yet, she is expecting to make a "change". well, at least, she is now partly successful in provoking poor people (example, nandigram) to talk against the govt. who is trying to get something good for WB. we can do almost nothing but pray for the poor people to keep them from this evil opposition leader.
